My birthday never fails to raise an unsettling combination of feelings and this year was no exception. I didn’t want to mope about it though because it’s a silly thing to mope about so, I turned to one of the few things that consistently cheers me up: Dragonforce.

Yes, clean. Because you can dance like an idiot while cleaning, and sing, or lip-sync and make an even bigger fool of yourself by ‘performing’ what you’re singing. You get a bit of exercise and the satisfaction of visible results when you’re finished because your floors are clean and everything looks lovely and tidy for a while. It’s a psychological trick I play on myself. Often when I’m frustrated or a bit down in the dumps, all I really need is to do something which gives me a sense of accomplishment to pick me up again and party cleaning does that for me.
