It's here, it's here! The Spiderlily Chronicles is now a complete series! Just yesterday, I told you that this is one of my most eagerly awaited new releases, and while I was gathering the links for that post, I found Amor Fati! I downloaded it immediately.
I’ve previously compared this series to Lord of the Rings, and I still stand by that. It has the same epic scope as Tolkein’s work, but the plot is more intricate, and the characters are much more fun. There are plenty of serious moments throughout the series, but it never feels like a grim read. Interactions between the characters are very funny at times, and there’s a moment I found hilarious in Soul Shatter where the author seems to poke fun at herself. The magic system is flawless, and the Ghostwalker state is badass.
This series sucked me into its world in a way I haven’t experienced since I was a teenager. I could credit it to the combination of an intricate plot, thoughtful world building, and outstanding characters, but it’s so much more than that. These books feel alive, and reading them is like making a new best friend. There are some typos, but if ever there was an instance where story trumps technical issues, it’s these books. I wouldn’t recommend reading them as standalones, but I guess you could if you want to be weird.
The entire series is available on Smashwords. Get them now, seriously, you should be reading already. You can also get the first three books on Amazon, the fourth doesn't seem to be there yet.
You can also read Nicole Martinsen's Smashwords interview and cyber stalk her (like I do :P) on Twitter, Facebook, and Goodreads.
Go forth and read!
